Lenten Quiet Day – Called to Serve

“Art is: a journey into the light”, a book by Makoto Fujimura, will guide us in art-making sessions with paint, coloured pencils, collage, and drawing. We will orient our minds and bodies towards the light, towards awareness that leads to awareness of the panoramic view and the stunning minutiae of nature. No art experience is neccessary; Fujimura’s text will be shared as inspiration.

Led by Janet Read, a practicing visual artist with experience in public and commerical galleries. Her work is currently on view at Holly Blossom Temple, Lower Level Gallery until March 4th. Her art can be explored at www.janet-read.com. She is delighted to return to SSJD, focusing on art-making in the tranquillity of the convent and the hospitality of the sisters.

Date: Friday, Feburary 20th to Sunday, February 22nd, 2026.

Cost: $270.00 including supplies
