Isaiah 2:1-5
Psalm 122
Romans 13:11-14
Matthew 24:36-44

Advent is again upon us.  Why do we keep Advent year after year?  There has to be more to it than what we hear in scripture – doesn’t there?  For me Advent is a time to look within.  To look at my relationship with my Creator.  To look at all my interconnectedness. Am I ready for the day of the Lord’s coming?  Am I at Peace within myself?

I have learned over the years that “God is Love” and that to serve, I am asked to share that Love, to become a light for Christ radiating in our world.  As a humanity we have a long way to go in showing love, compassion and mercy.  I do not have to look too far to see where I need to grow.  Thank goodness I am given a new year to work on sharing/showing love, compassion and mercy.  That gives me HOPE!  That my creator has given me more time to learn about and walk the way of Christ, not just in words but in action too, or at least to try.  And to know that Jesus is with me, that my salvation is nearer to me as I keep trying.  That even though I do not know on what day my Lord is coming, that my Beloved will be there in Love, Compassion and Mercy to hold my hand and say, “Thank you for trying to be awake, for trying to learn, for trying to show Love, Compassion, Mercy and HOPE.
