2 Samuel 7:1-11,16
Psalm 89:1-4,19-26
Romans 16:25-27
 Luke 1:26-38

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for He has looked with favour on the lowliness of His servant”.

These words written in Luke’s gospel formed part of Mary’s response to a message from God delivered to her by the Angel Gabriel.

The message, as shown above, and written in Luke’s Gospel, chapter 1:26-38, tells of a young maiden named Mary who lived in a town in Galilee called Nazareth.  Mary was engaged to a man named Joseph.  As written in Luke’s Gospel, the Angel Gabriel was sent by God to Mary in a town where she lived.  He presented to her a message bearing a greeting from God which stated that she will bear a son who is to be named Jesus.  The son will become great and will be called Son of the Most High and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David.

Undoubtedly, this gift promised to Mary by God as told to her by the Angel Gabriel, profoundly expresses graces of obedience, acceptance, gratefulness and reciprocal love to God. This moment in the Angel Gabriel’s visit clearly describes the blessings of Divine Love, and in obedience to God, Mary obediently accepted the message from God. She accepted the message from God with an indwelling of Divine Love.
