
Our Thomas Merton retreat will explore the many ways his life and thought intersect with our own. In our sessions we will journey with him as poetic visionary, religious contemplative, pilgrim to the East, and social critic.

Led by: Michael H. Higgins has researched and narrated several CBC programs on Merton for Ideas and Celebrations as well as serving as a consultant for a Man Alive documentary on him. He is the author of several books on Merton: Heretic Blood: The Spiritual Geography of Thomas Merton, Thomas Merton: Faithful Visionary, and The Unquiet Monk: Thomas Merton’s Questing Faith. Some of them have been translated into Italian, French, and German. He is Past President of both the International Thomas Merton Society and the Thomas Merton Society of Canada.
