Isaiah 30:19-21, 23-26
Psalm 14, 7:1-12
Matthew 9:35-10:1,5-8

‘God delights in expectant hope, a trusting hope in His mercy’ (Psalm 147:11).‘Fear can hold you prisoner, Hope can set you free’ – Movie:  Shawshank Redemption

Just as in Isaiah we live in chaotic times of war, famine, drought fire and flood, and climate crisis, trusting in the Lord we can wait in hope.  Just as in Isaiah there will be a time when we weep no more, In Advent we wait in hope for Christ coming again.

But in the time of remembrance of Christ birth, of Christ with us and Christ yet to come we can be a presence of Hope for those waiting in fear and desolation.

We are God’s hope and peace in a troubled world. (Isaiah) ‘whether you turn to the right or turn to the left, you will hear a voice behind you saying ‘this is the way walk in it’.

In Matthew we see Christ’s ministry as he travels teaching, and with compassion he heals the sick. Also, we read of the call of the Disciples and what they are to do.

We are also called as disciples to have compassion, relieve people’s fears, proclaim the good news and be a beacon of hope for those waiting in hope. How gracious He will be when you cry for help.  As soon as He hears he will answer you.

In Advent, we wait in his Hope and Mercy.
